For many veterans, transitioning into the civilian world is a new beginning. A chance for individuals to choose a different career path, different than their military background. It can be a difficult process when transitioning but veterans should reflect on their military experience and determine just what field to pursue. It’s also a chance for individuals to research which companies offer the right benefits for veterans and their families.

Depending on who you ask, there are different factors that make a company veteran friendly. Military Times polled companies across the country and determined rankings on factors including, veteran recruiting and on boarding, company culture, policies, and reservist accommodations. A record number of companies participated in this year’s survey with a majority stating they are actively looking for new hires. Of the companies polled, on average one-fifth of recruiting budgets go to veteran hiring efforts and about four in 10 have an increased interest in hiring veterans.

Here are the top 20 best veteran friendly companies of 2016. To see the full list, head over to Military Times.
