November marked the biggest monthly gain for hiring in the past three years, bringing on 321,000 people into the work force. While the unemployment rate didn’t budge too much, the Department of Labor recently reported 2.65 million jobs were added in 2014, making it a great year for job seekers.

Nearly every industry was hiring in the month of November but there were a few industries that led the way.

Professional and business services averaged 57,000 hires per month and brought in 86,000 employees in the month of November alone, including 16,000 in accounting and bookkeeping.

Retail averaged 22,000 per month and brought in around 50,000 in the month of November. The increase could have something to do with the approach of holiday season, but retail still stands strong with their hiring efforts.

Employment in health care increased by 261, 000 over the last 12 months, adding 29,000 jobs in the month of November alone.

Manufacturing was another industry with a big increase, with 28,000 jobs. Construction also continues to grow adding 20,000 new employees in November. Over the past year, construction has added over 200,000 jobs. 

Other industries worth mention include, food services, transportation and warehousing as well as financial institutions.

As we roll into a new, year, refocus on what job you want. A lot of industries continue to increase their hiring efforts which is a promising things for job seekers all over.
