With the high-rise of tech and STEM related careers, it’s no surprise these positions are becoming America’s highest paying jobs.
For the third year in a row job site Glassdoor, released their list of America’s highest paying jobs and there are a variety of tech positions that made the cut. Healthcare was another area where continued demand has not only increased pay but also growth of the field. While a few healthcare positions showed up for higher paying positions, tech jobs landed 10 spots on the list.
“With nearly half the list comprised of jobs in the tech and healthcare industries, this report reinforces that higher salaries are found in America’s fastest job-creating sectors, which require higher education and in-demand skill sets,” said Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor’s chief economist.
To create their list of highest paying jobs, Glassdoor sifted through salary reports shared by employees who hold the positions and those positions have to have more than 100 reports to be considered. Because the data is not perfect, the company has developed a statistical algorithm that controls for factors such as location and amount of experience. “For the everyday job-seeker, it provides more of a guide,” Glassdoor spokeswoman Allison Berry said. “It certainly is not a perfect science.”
