America's top cities for work happiness

Every year CareerBliss releases a list of America’s happiest cities to work in. This data helps job seekers determine areas that could potentially increase work happiness. To determine which cities make the cut, CareerBliss analyzes key factors that affect workplace happiness submitted by employee reviews. Cities are only included if they receive 50 or more reviews during the year prior. Individuals weigh in on key factors like, company culture, compensation, daily tasks, work environment, etc.

So which cities made this year’s list? Out of the top 20 cities, the sunny state of California dominated the list, with 6 different cities securing positions. Silicon Valley cities, Santa Clara and San Jose, land the top two positions while San Francisco earns position five and San Diego lands in 10th position. “With high paying jobs in technology, these cities are home to some of the happiest employees,” says Heidi Golledge, Co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer of CareerBliss. Tech moguls like Google, Apple, Facebook, Intel, and other big name companies call Silicon Valley home. These companies, and many other California based companies, offer high-paying positions with promising growth and great company culture. The endless sunshine and coastal beaches are just added bonuses!

This list of cities doesn’t mean you have to pack up and move to find the right balance. You might already live in one of the lucky areas. If not, use this as an opportunity to reevaluate your location and see if a new city could potentially bring more happiness your way.
